Okay, only a little late, so it’s fine. No problem. I had a busy weekend, but time makes itself and so here we are.
More forward planning would be good, but ya know what, I do this for fun. So vaguely sort of maybe on time is a-okay with me. I am the only one turning the cogs back here at The BOMFF. All thoughts from one brain, beholden only to the whims of itself, efforts all exerted by one mind. It does not always comply with the reasonable expectations one sets for oneself.
So, irregardless. Here we are. One new post, a few days late, but nevertheless live. Apologies expressed, let’s move forward.
I first thought that I should do something with a love focus if not a valentines focus for this weekend, it was so perfectly timed, but now we’ve surpassed that and I haven’t watched a romcom and little outside of BtVS in the last week, and as such what to write about for this fine weekend – or else week – becomes a question.
Having passed the only sort of celebrated date – for it so commercialised as to be largely an excuse to treat yourself, your partner or your friends and family, sanctioned by the red hearts in stories and the adverts encouraging you to do so – a focus of love no longer feels necessary and ya know what? Thank the gods, because I do not know what I would have said. This close to a ramble about a couple you’ve heard about extensively before, but that’s about it. So we’ll call my Spuffy ramble last post just about appropriately timed – if not a little premature – and give you a lovely catch-up this fine week.

So… Where Am I?
What a good question because I’ve barely watched shit.
I have been keeping up with episodes of High Potential. Curse my UK residency because tell me why the US has had these episodes for months and Disney+ is still releasing them on a weekly schedule, but whatever. At least I get to watch it at all. I’ve been eyeing it up for a few months and I have to say, absolutely good spot because I’m enjoying it greatly. Please don’t take my new cooky crime drama away from me, this one’s really quite good. Only up to four episodes, though, so more to come later.
I also watched Will Trent, because I kept getting the adverts for it but I didn’t finish it. It was okay, I guess. Objectively very good, I just wasn’t vibing with it this time around. I did recognise Sonja Sohn from Body of Proof, which was neat. Okay, yep, that’s it.
Briefly, I entertained Lie To Me, largely because crime dramas are my fall-back genre and also because my partner mentioned they were watching it once. I didn’t stick with it. I did indoctrinate my partner into Buffy the Vampire Slayer successfully, though, so positives. They’re loving it.
I also rewatched some of Perception again. I think it was background noise to a Sims 4 session. I had watched Perception a few years ago with my dad. I didn’t stick with it either.
Also, a few episodes of Tracker, which is pleasant enough but hasn’t hooked me yet. It’s good.
Also, I am finally watching the new episodes of 9-1-1, just in time for the new episode drops in March. The internet had been counting down with those teasers, and, gods, am I excited. A Maddie Arc? In the year of our gods 2025? How could we be so blessed? I’m sure my locale will doom me again and we’ll probably get the episodes later across the pond, but we were only a few weeks behind last time so let’s all keep our fingers crossed.
Ya know, the benefit of some straight-to-streaming shows like The Legend of Vox Machina and Agatha All Along was all the episodes dropping at the same time around the globe. I mean, sure, because I couldn’t regularly stay up till 2am I sometimes had to wait an entire day before I could get to them, diligently avoiding spoilers, but the point is I didn’t have to wait weeks and/or months. What a time October was.
Irregardless, let me just say of Season 8: I do not do bugs. Honestly, I expected the bees to be more of a factor considering the teasers, but they really just fly up at the end of Episode 1 and the show is sort of done with them. Dumb ass excuse to get Athena flying a plane – which is the real big emergency of the Season, isn’t it? – but whatever, I’ll take it. This is what happens, isn’t it?
I’ve only watched the two episodes at the time of writing but I know a little of what is to come, largely in regards to my fave, Maddie, and ya know, Those Promos. I was going to add a little more here, but I’m opting to save it for next time, assuming I will write about the rest of the first half of Season 8 when I finish it – which is likely to be very soon – I just want to get this post out, but it’s definitely a discussion for later, maybe.
I did go to check what I edited out I hadn’t said before (I hadn’t) but in checking it did remind me that the last time we spoke of 9-1-1 I was on Season 6. So, yes, actually I did also binge watch Season 7 the other day. I am now on the 8 episodes so far released of Season 8.
I will say this about Season 7, second time around it is not so bad. It’s still somewhat disappointing in comparison to some of their past seasons – hate to see them slacking – but it is not as bad as I thought it was. The pacing isn’t great, the cruise is dragged out to shit, Bobby spends a full 45 minutes in the desert, and things really do ramp the hell up in the end of the season for no particular reason, to end the same way they started: unashamedly favouring Bobby and Athena… but, actually, this time, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. Some of it paced quite nicely.
I wish we’d gotten mention of the Madney wedding just a little more before it happened. Even just a scene of Maddie getting increasingly excited at the prospect of a big wedding, or her parents offering to pay just leading up to it. Ya know, something, because while we make allusions to her parents motives behind it in the relevant episode, it should be important to Maddie that her parents are attending this one – they didn’t attend the last one, this is mending bridges – and she doesn’t even mention it.
Rewatching the episode this time though, it’s quite good, and the Maddie arc following – though strangely oddly timed in my opinion – is quite good in showing us her healing journey as well. She is not necessarily defined by her trauma, and is capable of living beyond it, but it never quite goes away. What an important recognition. Wonder how she’ll handle what’s coming.
And as stated to Season 8: I do not do bugs. I’ll update you on the rest in the next post, assuming I remember after I’ve moved on to something else.
Okay, so low-key I want to watch Ghost Whisperer again. Ya know, having watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer again and then 9-1-1 finally, it just feels like a nice meld of my love for Jennifer Love Hewitt’s work and the kind of ’90s through 2000’s TV Shows I just sort of love. Golden era, a lot of which continued into the 2010s that I just miss so much.
Also, Critical Role’s been on my brain, and I have so much catching up to do! I am between fixations, as it were, at the moment. Can you tell?
So, I’ll let you know how that goes. I could quite easily end up watching Body of Proof again, or something completely new and unrelated. Options up in the air, we’ll see where it lands.
Okay, I think that’s it.

To Conclude
Funsies! Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed this little catch-up, mismatched as it is. I hope I’ll see you again in two weeks (just under) for the next post.
