A post for spooky season?
Well, considering the finale dropped just today, I think there is truly no better a topic for this years spooky post than Agatha All Along.
I will admit, though, my Thursday’s are rather unfortunately busy at the moment, and as such, having waited for the finale, I am writing this years post in somewhat of a rush in order to get it out before the season is over.
With that said, lets have a ramble and look at the one and only Agatha All Along.
SPOILERS
(obviously)

Finale
I mean, having watched it literally an hour ago, what better place to start than the end? And one hell of an ending it was.
I am very happy we heard Wanda and Visions voices again, and this show left it continuously ambiguous as to her fate (she’s not dead and I will figuratively fight anyone who says otherwise). I truly smiled at hearing some of their beautiful lines from WandaVision again. I MISS HER. I want her back, and I will figuratively sacrifice whatever I need to to achieve that. Please tell me Billy will lead us there, somehow, some way, tell me he can.
I have to say, in spite of the crown we’d already seen, I was not expecting a full Wiccan-look reveal, but it was a good one. Not to mention his Maximoff patented walk of shame out of Westview. I have seen this movie before. What luck no one besides Agatha knows what he did, I suppose, or he may find himself the well-intentioned villain in someone else’s story. Perhaps, though, he does think himself a villain with those bodies in his wake, even if Agatha was going to kill them anyways. That’s a moral conundrum for someone else’s show, I’m sure.
Now for the titular character… what a con artist she is. I have to say at the conclusion of Episode 8 I had a reaction akin to “What in the Westview just happened?”, and then Episode 9 kindly explains to us that the Witches’ Road never existed to begin with, and oh my gods, Billy, what did you do? That aside, what a clever witch Agatha is. Centuries of pulling the same damn con. If the rumours are accurate does this mean she totally killed Alice’s mom? I am not in favour of murder, but I am in favour of a very clever, very long game. Like that is not the reveal I expected, but it is the reveal I can appreciate.
Admittedly, I kept expecting/hoping/praying all the dead would return by the end, but I suppose when one of your lead characters is, in fact, Death, that is unlikely (and we will come back to her). However, in spite of The Road being fiction until it wasn’t, those deaths were very much real, and very much happened, and it is always very important to validate death. There were so many in so few episodes it started to feel like surely they must come back, but they didn’t. They stayed quite dead, and that fact, only made Agatha’s better. Though, through the power of sheer will alone, we do technically bring Tommy back from the dead… assuming he was ever dead to begin with.
This, was not a dream… which in many ways it felt like it could’ve been with the road having never existed to begin with… but it was still there when he went back, and they were still quite dead. No wonder he felt that guilt.
And she knew!
This is important, Agatha knew the road was fake, and when it appeared she really had only one conclusion. So, pray tell, why the facade, Agatha? Why keep up an act that was of so much risk to you? Perhaps she was simply curious, and in the end, surely, eventually, she’d get her power… and Death would get her bodies. Perhaps she needed a little more convincing of who he truly was. Perhaps she just wanted to get to know him.
Agatha is a bit of an embodied quest for power, and Billy, arguably, held the most of it there. Maybe she wanted his, maybe she saw Nicky in him from the beginning, maybe… ya know, until I rewatch it a few hundred more times I don’t really have anymore ideas on that. Keeping up the charade must’ve been an angle in some way.

Death
Aubrey Plaza, in my personal gay opinion, has a way of making everything homoerotic, and I mean this with every compliment in my soul. This includes and extends to, Cat Adams, even as she actively flirted with Spencer Reid, a male.
So, when she walks into the series and the gay tension is palpable… Well, it’s MARVEL, I chocked it up to the Aubrey Plaza Effect and crossed my fingers really hard… because it’s Marvel, gay tension is really all you’re getting and nothing more… but this… what excessive levels.
And it only got gayer.
With more than one gay kiss, between two different gay couples.
Tension between Agatha and Rio so high off the charts you could feel it in your bones. The only hope for the final episodes I had was a lesbian kiss… and…
Well, I cheered.
No death can deter me from the fact the Lesbians finally kissed. I too like them bad, Agatha. There’s something so appealing about the darkness in a character, and The Green Witch, certainly carries a lot with her. It’s the natural order of things, death, need not be afraid.
However… Agatha did die, didn’t she? One Great Gay Kiss, and one great gay death. That is always the way. One day, a gay will get to be evil, in love, kiss and live… one day.
I will take what I can, though, because this is Marvel, and I remain to be in genuine shock. Who stopped supervising the writing team and how did they get away with this? You can’t edit around that, it is baked into the core of the show and referenced on multiple occasions. How will Marvel market this to the upmost amount of people?
No, Agatha is not straight and her list of ex’s include Death, herself, played by the one and only Aubrey Plaza, who so far as I am concerned is physically incapable of playing anything straight. It was truly a gift to watch. And Death, in the way that she is, was both pleasant and horrifying, which is quite appropriate.
Side note, if the kiss killed her how come Agatha totally almost kissed her a few episodes ago? Would it have killed her then too? Or is it that Death just killed her as she was kissing her for all the gay funsies?
Further side note… why did Agatha change her mind? The kid reminds her of her son, sure, but like… this is Agatha… there wasn’t really anything in that moment that should’ve caused her to change her mind and yet she did. And then she tried to play it off! “Calculated risk” my arse, girly, that was suicidal and you know it. Now she’s a ghost! A ghost!
But they’re gonna go find Tommy, which is neat.

Thanks
This is the least organised Random Rambles post I think I’ve ever done. I just want this out before we hit November.
This show was an absolute blast from the day it started, and I am so glad to have kept up with it. As with all shows I will make the potentially empty promise that we’ll revisit this show later, but for now I’m going to call it day. When I have more time, I shall say more, perhaps.
As always thank you for reading. Feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM on socials.

This post was messy, but I hope you enjoyed it, and cutting incredibly close to the wire, Happy Halloween. I hope the spooky season treated you well.
On to the next!
